Recommended Duration:

3 to 4 lectures of 90 minutes each plus possible extra time for reviewing home work.

Background of Lecture:

The lecture is based on Till Freyer’s personal experiences of dealing with buyers, some for 40 years. Excellent communication lead to long lasting business connections.

Distribution of lecture materials to students:

Distribute the Students’ Guide ahead of the lecture. Encourage students to study about 10 screens in advance to encourage active participation in class and to carry out the tasks as highlighted in the Students’ Guide.

Introduction to skilfull communication

Screens 3-6:

Garment related English words including a minor task

Screens 8-11:

Writing letters including a minor task

Screens 12-13:

Structural thinking incl. a task to make a short presentation in class

Screens 14-18:

Communication Facilities – e.mail, scanner, fax incl. minor tasks

Screens 19-21:

The telephone including minor tasks

Screens 22-24:

Writing Reports including minor tasks

Screens 25-26:

Giving prompt replies including minor tasks

Screens 27-30:

First meeting with a new potential customer including minor task

Screen 31:

Making an overseas visit including a minor task

Screens 32-35:

Price discussions including tasks

Screens 36-37:

Communication Skills as a tool of confidence building.

Teaching Facilities:

Sample room (preferred) or classroom or meeting room, screen, projector, PC, pointer if available, internet connection is an added advantage.


Distribute hard copies of the Students’ Guide to course participants about 10 days ahead of delivering the lecture. Print it in such a way that the matching screen(s) as per each page in on the left side and the page from the Students’ Guide on the right when the booklet is opened.
